Earlier today, AB Gladsaxe played the first training match before the start of the tournament on August 5. The opponent was Hillerød Football, which again this season plays in the NordicBet league. It was therefore a strong team that is facing the start of the tournament in a week, AB had to face.
For the AB squad, which has only trained together for 2 weeks, and which now consists of a large number of new players together with former players from last season plus new ones from U19, it was therefore exciting to get indications of where the team stands here almost 3 weeks before the start of the season. It had attracted many spectators to the beautiful AB facility at Skovdiget.
Head coach David Roufpanah had chosen to use the entire squad except for a few injured players. However, no more than 6 minutes passed, where one player from each team clashed heads. The worst thing happened to AB’s Rasmus Brodersen, who after almost 20 minutes of treatment from both AB and Hillerød’s staff, unfortunately had to be observed and further treated at the hospital.
Marcelo Randolf replaced Rasmus Brodersen.
Hillerød Football pressed on and took a number of corner kicks, but they did not yield results. AB came more and more into the game. The combinations flowed well, and the game was generally faster. There were several good moments, where AB plays quickly around Hillerød’s players. Hillerød plays a great chance, where a cross in the box could have resulted in a goal, but the striker came too late for the finish.
Layton Ndukwu had to retire and Hakim Sighaoui came on the field.
Daniel A. Pedersen played Killian van Mil, who took a walk along the sidelines. The cross was sent into the box, where Abel Walatee was close to scoring.
The first goal of the new season
The first goal of the new season is good play in small spaces, where Killian van Mil plays the ball on and gets it back himself for a good shot, and it becomes 1-0 to AB to the great cheers of the many spectators.
Abel Walatee goes out and Oliver Drost comes on the field.
The second half meant substitutions. The game was even, and already after 5 minutes, Hillerød Football got the chance to equalize, but the shot ended up over the goal. Lucas Ørneborg dribbles nicely through the defense, and it looked like a penalty, but it was not awarded. Both teams try shots from outside the box, but the efforts did not lead to goals.
After 70 minutes of playing time, Hillerød gets a conversion, which ends with a really good cross in the box, where Victor Mohr is well placed and heads into the goal to equalize 1-1.
Within the next 6 minutes, AB increases the lead. Ilias Namli was quickest on the ball after a good pass behind the defence. Namli sprints towards the goal and he scores from the back line to make it 2-1.
AB’s goalkeeper sends a long shot over the halfway line, where Lucas Ørneborg speeds up and can increase further to 3-1.
Hillerød also gets a chance to reduce the deficit, but AB’s defense kicked the ball away. AB does not really get into place, and Valdemar Schousboe reduces to 3-2, which was the result of the match.
We got a win today!
After the game, head coach David Roufpanah said: “We got a win today in our first game and it was great. We still have a lot to work with and develop. We have some sequences that are good and that we would like to have more of. We must learn from the mistakes we make. That’s how it is. It’s the first game and mistakes are being made. So I’m not completely satisfied, but we’re happy to win the game. We did it together, and the players they worked hard together to get the win. In the coming week, we will fo
To focus on the physical training and the intensity. We have to continue to work on the relationships, develop our passing game and develop how we can attack the opponent’s goal – so we have a lot to work on.”
The coaching staff had chosen the following starting line-up:

On the field came: Albert Gaub-Jacobsen (goal), James Iheme, Oliver Drost, Lucas Ørneborg, Ilias Namli, Marcelo Randolf, Christian Espensen-Troelsen, Emiliano Arrieta, Emiliano Gomez, Hakim Sighaoui, Frederik Lindgaard.
