At the beginning of the match, much of the play took place in the middle of the pitch with no significant finishes for either team. AB takes over more and more of the game, and had the appearance of big chances, but after 21 min. FC Roskilde takes a 1-0 lead on a nice goal by Cornelius Allen from the edge of the box with no chance for Albert Gaub-J. It was Roskilde’s first attempt against AB’s target. The chance arose after an error of AB’s midfield.
Roskilde’s goal did not knock AB out, and the team fought on beautifully. Flamur Dzelili had had good crosses from the edge, and in the 34th minute he chose to look towards the middle and finished with a really nice goal from the edge of the box to equalize 1-1. However, the equalizer only lasted 3 minutes, then Cornelius Allen again broke through AB’s right side, He again placed the shot outside Albert Gaub-Jacobsen’s reach for Roskilde lead of 2-1, which was also the score at the break.

The 2nd half starts with a high pressure from FC Roskilde’s page. AB is pressured to make mistakes, and FC Roskilde hits the post and on the riposte, Albert has to Gaub-Jacobsen serves up a nice foot parade.
Unfortunately, Mikkel Brund has to leave the field with an injury, and Daniel A. Pedersen has to go down to central defence. AB survives the pressure and gets back in the game with good combos and fast play. Rasmus Brodersen takes another turn on the edge and sends the ball into the box. After a little small play between a couple of AB players, the ball ends up with Christian Wagner, who scores nicely to equalize 2-2.

After the equalizer, FC Roskilde presses again, and AB will be far behind. That gives Roskilde opportunities, but no scoring chances. After 64 minutes, Søren Ilsøe tackles a Roskilde player far too violently in the middle of the pitch close to the sideline. A tackle that the referee rates as yellow card, and when Søren Ilsøe had received a yellowt Shortly earlier in the game, the red card came out. AB then played with 10 men for the rest of the match.
Only four minutes later, Rasmus Brodersen takes another raid forward, and Emiliano Gomez, who had come in from the start of the 2nd half, is on the spot and can put AB ahead with 3-2. A fantastic performance with only 10 men.

After AB’s lead goal puts FC Roskilde under massive pressure to turn the game around in their efforts to hang on in the promotion race. They get several chances, but AB stands really well and fights exemplary. 3 At least 10 minutes into injury time, FC Roskilde gets a corner kick and pulls their goalkeeper all the way to the front of the box. Unfortunately for AB, he scores to equalize 3-3 on a really nice goal.

Captain Daniels A. Pedersen said after the game: “Of course, it is incredibly bitter to concede a goal deep into injury time. We fight hard in the end with a man outnumbered. I think we give everything we have and we are completely destroyed in the end. We are very good at resisting, and then it is A shame that we don’t get all three points. I think we played a good game. We play fresh and liberated and score some great goals. It must have been a game worth watching. They also score some goals that are well kicked in. It was a fun game to play and we play really good football at times. It is sometimes the last decision or the last quality that we just need to raise, and we are tired in the end, including myself. I haven’t had that many trainings in my legs after my injury. I was in doubt if I could play 90 minutes, but it worked. It was great to be back.”

AB’s interim head coach Fabiana Alcalá saidafter the match: “I don’t think the result reflects our performance on the pitch. We were true to our style of play, where we want to press high and build up from the back and we were able to find the space we needed. Sometimes it’s also about luck, but I think even though we were one man down in the last almost 30 minutes, we managed to score a goal in that period and played well.
I can’t be dissatisfied with the performance of the players. They are down now, because they had the chance to win. I am both pleased and very proud of the things we have worked on and built on over the last two weeks, and now we look forward to Joey coming. And Roskilde’s goalkeeper made a nice shot. Normally, it is not expected to have much significance when the goalkeeper leaves his goal and joins the attack. It did today. He was in the right place at the right time and with a bit of luck, he scored a nice goal. A draw is a bit bitter for us, but we have to give credit to the players, because I think we dominated the game. We could see today that there are some problems with communication between the players, so Roskilde gets far too much space. They didn’t have many chances, but of course they took the ones that came.”

The next match is on 31 May 2024 at 19:00 against Esbjerg at Blue Water Arena, where AB’s new coach Joey Guðjónsson is in charge of the team after Fabiana Alcalá has coached the team through the last two matches.
