2-1 cup win over Kastrup BK
AB Gladsaxe got a 2-1 victory over Kastrup Boldklub in the cup tournament today. It was definitely not a pretty game. The players who haven’t played much were given playing time, but the game never really came together. Several passes without address and chances that came to nothing. Kastrup tried aggressive play from the start and went physical with the AB players. The impression from the first half was definitely not good. AB came out fresh from the break and there were good finishes from several players. Albert Nørager was on the pitch at the start of the second half, and after 5 min. After 5 minutes he slams a hard shot and it ends up in the goal for a 1-0 lead. Just 2 min. he sent another shot – but the post was in the way. 2 minutes later the same post was in the way of Mican Aticis’ finish. Kastrup also had their chances, but Tobias Brogaard in goal saved all attempts until the 75th minute. The midfield failed to tackle the 3-4 players who combined and a Kastrup player took a shot to equalize 1-1.
The match went into extra time and the game could only get better. It went well in the beginning with fast play and good finishes.
The first half of extra time created chances again, but it wasn’t until the second half of extra time that things got interesting when Emil Wass scored to make it 2-1. It was also Emil Wass who was fouled twice in the box, but the referee’s whistle was silent. The match ended 2-1 to AB, who are now through to the cup tournament. Head coach Patrick Birch Braune said after the match: “We got what we came for – advancement. The performance is far from approved. If this is our bottom level, we need to work hard on it. We had hoped that some of the players who didn’t start last time would take their chance. They didn’t do that today. It’s a wake up call for them. These players need to work hard. We came and we got a win and then we hope for a fun draw in the next round. First and foremost, it’s now about showing a completely different level on Friday against HIK. We had a really good experience against FREM on Friday and we need to work on that and hopefully be better against HIK. Big praise to Kastrup – they played their chance and did really well. Impressive to meet them and they really gave us a run for our money”.
