AB played the last match before the tournament turns today. 354 spectators had turned up at Gladsaxe Stadium on a fairly cold autumn day. The match was characterized by strong winds and a very wet pitch. It was a point against Skive IK in a not very well-played match.
Compared to last week’s match against Aarhus Fremad, an injured Ilias Namli was out, Hørdur Askham was on the bench after he played an international match for the Faroe Islands against Poland on Thursday. They were replaced by Pachanga Kristensen and Christian Wagner.
The starting line-up looked like this:
3 Erik Lindell
4 Adrien Koudelka
5 Rasmus Brodersen
6 Daniel A. Pedersen
8 Darren Sidoel
10 Layton Ndukwu
16 Albert Gaub-Jacobsen
19 Christian Wagner
22 Tim Freriks
24 Mark Garly Pedersen
35 Pachanga Kristensen
Daniel A. Pedersen played in the middle in defence. Christian Wagner took his usual place at the top.
Both teams had a hard time putting the game in the very strong wind. Overall, it was a very poor game from both sides. Chance could have decided the game for both sides, but neither was able to make scoring chances so big that it could turn into goals. AB tried at the end of the game to put pressure on Skive, but no goal was scored.
Head coach David Roufpanah said after the game: “For me, it was an expected match picture. There are 2-3 teams in this series that play this way. It’s about being much more creative and playing faster together. We play much more at their pace and on their terms. There are a lot of breaks in the game, so we don’t get rhythm in the game. I don’t think that we in 1. h Elf play is consistent enough in our games. We become a little too passive in that phase, but that’s how football is too. We have to be much more creative and play much faster to win these kinds of games. We lack pace on the ball sometimes. That’s not how we train, so we have to play the games the way we train.”
Captain Daniel A. Pedersen said after the game: “We are disappointed with 1 point. There were difficult conditions with wind and the course was not optimal either. I think we throw the ball away too easily and we are too blurry in the final third. On the other hand, I think we are OK in defence. We don’t have that many chances, so it’s good to keep the clean sheet. I’m disappointed that we didn’t win this game. If we want to be up where we want to be, then it’s the kind of game that we have to win at home. It was too blurry with the ball, so we lose it in stupid ways. We may have a little too many touches on and don’t play each other well enough.
Skive played on their terms and wanted to make it a physical match. We would have liked to win, but it didn’t work out that way today.”
The next match is on Saturday 21 October at 14:00 in Brabrand.
